Last night was Matchday 3, and you know what they say - 3 is a magic number. All the numbers have been magic for Civil Citizenry, the first team to attain a 3-0 record here, leading Group 2 by a game and a half after only three games played. One of those wins was a shocking 2-1 win over Kazzoria on Saturday night. Kazzoria reached the finals in the first Beach Cup, and came to Sarrbia as a favorite to finally win it all. But the Kazzorians dropped to 0-2 after an equally stunning, if not more so, loss to Mangolana - in fact, Kazzoria couldn't score a single goal in that match.
In Group 1, defending champions Hossaim won its first game over Vulshain, 5-2; the team vaulted itself into third place in the group, a game behind host Sarrbia. Sarrbia's +11 goal differential is the second-best in the tournament, behind only Delaclava. The latter nation is well known for its sporting prowess, and its fans back home are not being disappointed by its beach soccer team. A ridiculous 17-5 thrashing of Megadia on Saturday is the main culprit, though last night's 6-3 win over Eurentus proved the Delaclavs are not a one-hit wonder. Megadia even rebounded quickly enough to give Eastfield Lodge a 5-1 beatdown yesterday.
The largest margin of the day was the Spitfyred1 - Corpi match, in which Spitfyred1 tallied nine goals to Corpi's one. The Fyreballz of Spitfyred1 now have the second-most goals scored, behind only Delaclava.
Games to watch: D Land and Isles vs. Eurentus. So far, Delaclava looks good enough to claim one of the two quarterfinal spots from Group 3, but the other one is up for grabs - and these two teams will probably be the main contenders for it. D Land and Isles are undefeated thus far, but Eurentus has played pretty consistently. A poor game by the former could shift the balance of this group.
